Lab 11: Animal Behavior Lab
See how animals adjust to environmental conditions in a “Choice Chamber”!
Using the specially designed Choice Chamber, your students will study the behavior, physiology, appearance and form of sow bugs in response to changes in their environment such as humidity, light, background color and temperature. In the second part of the investigation, the class will study the strict behavioral patterns and five distinct phases of courtship behavior in Drosophila melanogaster. Finally, your students will design their own experiment to further investigate reproductive behavior in fruit flies. Lab investigation includes an illustrated view of courtship behavior in fruit flies along with broad coverage of animal behaviors in response to sensory input.
