Isotope Generator, 137Cs / 137Ba-m

137Cs preparation for demonstrating the law of radioactive decay by generating small quantities of a solution with short lived radioactivity. Includes 250 ml of elution solution. The isotope generator contains about 370 kBq of 137Cs as a long lived radioactive mother isotope. This decays with the emission of ?-radiation to form the metastable state 137Ba-m, which decays with a half-life of about 2.5 min to the ground state of the isotope 137Ba. By elution of the daughter substance 137Ba-m from the isotope generator it is possible to obtain a solution with this short lived radioactivity, the activity of which demonstrates the law of radioactive decay.
