Friction Measuring Apparatus
This demonstration apparatus is used to measure static and dynamic friction between various surfaces. The plane of friction – a coated, U-profile aluminum friction track – is hinged at one end to a steel base plate. A protractor scale is used to measure the angle of inclination. Below the stationary friction body which is attached to a dynamometer, the friction carriage is pulled away with a uniform velocity (e.g. by the low-speed motor U8552360). The force of friction is then determined. Friction bodies with varying surface finishes allow the study of frictional properties of different combinations of materials and their coefficients of friction. Changing the angle of the track allows you to measure the friction in relation to the force along the normal. Dimensions: 600 x 140 x 150 mm (LxWxH) Weight: approx. 3 kg Includes: Dynamometer 5 N, friction carriage, friction body (PVC), friction body (PVC, one side with felt coating), friction body (PVC, one side with paper coating), skids for friction bodies, skids for friction bodies (rubber-coated), skids for friction bodies (Tefloncoated), 3 weights: 100 g each, buffer.
